Stradbally is a small town located in the Midlands, in County Laois. Even though the town mostly consists of one main street and fields surrounding it, the town is most well-known for its motor racing event, the Steam Rally and the annual music festival Electric Picnic.
Electric Picnic is the annual music and arts festival that takes place in the small town. It normally takes place late August to early September, where acts from all over the world come together to perform for its visitors. The festival is perfect for young and old, friends and families. Electric Picnic was voted the ‘Best Medium-Sized European Festival’ in 2010 by the European Festival Awards and the ‘Best Big Festival’ on four occasions in the Irish Festival Awards.
Other notable attractions in Stradbally are its woodland railway, which is operated by volunteers of the Irish Steam Preservation Society, Stradbally Hall, Stradbally Steam Museum, Dunamase and Jambori, Ireland’s largest scouting event that took place in Stradbally Hall in 2018.
