In the early 1990’s, a small group of people met with the idea of reviving the agricultural show in Tullamore, it was the only large town in the midlands that did not have a show of its’ own at that time and it had been 53 years since the last show had taken place. The year was 1991, the Celtic tiger was about to grip the economy and Ireland’s largest agricultural event The Spring Show was coming to an end
The Tullamore Show & AIB National Livestock Show is Ireland’s premier agricultural event. Every year, it attracts the best cattle, sheep, and equine breeders from all over the country, alongside entrants for its other 1000-plus competitions with a total prize-fund of €175,000.
It is Ireland’s largest one-day show, averaging 62,000 visitors in recent years, the Tullamore Show will take place on Sunday the 8th of August 2021 on the Butterfield Estate.
The Tullamore Show and AIB National Livestock Show are an ultimate country lifestyle event. The show provides a truly authentic and cultural experience.
In its’ early days, the focus was primarily on agriculture. These days, however, the show has evolved into not only the National Livestock Show, but a day for all the family with over 650 trade stands, great entertainment, music, food, farm skills, photography, equestrian, vintage machinery and fun. It really has become the show with something for everyone.
