Durrow Scarecrow Festival

Every year Durrow an 18th century village, holds a nine day festival running from the 30th of July to the 7th of August, with approximately 300 scarecrows located in the village of Durrow. The Durrow Scarecrow Festival is now in its 8th year and has been nominated twice for ‘Best Festival’ in the Irish Times Ticket Awards, the festival is fast becoming one of national acclaim.
The highlight of the festival is of course the All Ireland Scarecrow Championships in which hundreds of scarecrows from the four corners of Ireland and even further afield compete to win prizes, with entries in the past such as Mrs. Brown, The Minions, Miley Silage, The Mad Hatter, Star Wars characters and a life size Dinosaur to name but a few.
The Durrow Scarecrow Festival is a fun event from families to the young and old.
The festival includes a daily line up of, Arts and Crafts Exhibitions with workshops and demonstrations, Scarecrow Village, Bouncy Castles, Scarecrow Treasure Hunt, The Ranch Exhibition with Pet Farm, Interactive Display of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatters Tea Party, Craft demonstrations in the Scarecrow Village, Face Painting, there will also be visits from Peppa Pig, Elsa, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
With some of Irelands best known music artists in attendance you’re sure to be entertained year after year.
Durrow is located 21klm from the hotel and takes approximately 15/20 minutes by car.
